The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the drama school that DT attended, is conferring (has conferred? - silly time zones) an honorary doctorate on him today. That means he's now a Doctor in real life!
Considering the amount (I was going to say "body," but I'm refraining) of work in the field that he's done, it's well deserved! Not to mention the title itself... a full-fledged Doctor!
Yes, unlike many others that are just celebrity status, not in a university related to their field. This is his field, he's worked very very hard in it, and done exceedingly well...
Ah, an honory doctorate. Skimming feeds this morning I saw it described merely as a "degree" and was confused why the school he presumably already had a degree from was giving him... a degree?
I didn't want to say it out loud, but that's what I thought, too, and really hope he does. I'm sure he'll eventually be inducted into the Order of the British Empire, but knighthood is another thing entirely, from what I'm reading.
The great thing about Doctor Who jokes is that when one of them gets old, you just change its face and it's new and fun again! Except for that one about the dogs with no noses - it's still funny!
I was talking to a friend about this yesterday, wondering if we should call him Doctor Tennant now. My buddy smirked and said, "Nah, Doctor Ten for short. I bet the Fanboy's already got monogrammed shorts and ties with that anyway."

I really hope he gets knighted someday.
