Ganked from
thisbluespirit. She mentioned it was a small distraction for her, and same for me. (Things are not good today. Maybe I'll even write a post about it. But probably not.) Let's see how this goes.
Rules: Give us the links to your fics with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the fewest words.
Most hits
The Actor (6405 hits, Doctor Who, David Tennant, Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, 36,371 words)
Wow, I hadn't known that any of my fics had gotten over 3k hits. The next one after this has just barely topped 3k, and that's it. But this was a shoo-in for most hits because the idea of David Tennant traveling in the TARDIS seems to be a popular idea but there are very few other works in that niche.
Second most kudos
Mistaken Identity (224 kudos, Doctor Who/Harry Potter crossover, Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble, a bunch of HP characters most people don't care about, 19,806 words)
This one is a surprise, both in terms of having more than a hundred kudos (fewer than ten of my works have more than that) and being in second place. Considering that this and The Actor (#1 in the kudos list) are my two oldest works (well, there were two short stories before them), it's a bit disheartening that nothing I've written since has been better. Especially since both pieces are embarrasingly poorly-written.
Third most comments
Blue Rain (34 comments, Doctor Who superhero AU, Tenth Doctor/Donna Noble, 55,140 words)
I'm very happy to see this here, because this is a work that I am still happy with and proud of.
Fourth most bookmarks
"Bloody Doctors!" (20 kudos, Doctor Who/Broadchurch crossover, Tenth Doctor, DI Alec Hardy, DS Ellie Miller, 1976 words)
Now this one, I don't get. At all. Not why it's gotten so many hits (it's #7 of my over 150 works) or so many kudos (#4, and a much higher kudo/hit ratio than I normally get), nor why it continues to get hits long after the Tenth Doctor and Broadchurch have been gone from our screens, nor why anyone would want to bookmark this work. Of course, I'm not sure why anyone bookmarks anything, except either to get back to reading a long work that can't be done in one sitting or to be able to re-read something particularly good, but neither applies to this twiddle.
But, "Bloody Doctors!" is my single most popular short story, probably because it's funny at Alec Hardy's expense. And this is discouraging as well, because I'd like to think that I have a number of other stories that are more interesting, better written, and more meaningful, but I guess that doesn't matter, does it?
(Wow, I guess I really am in a dark place today. Sorry this isn't so fun.)
Fifth most words
The Substitute Bride (30,042 words, Doctor Who, Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble, Nerys)
Here's one I loved, because it's probably the closest I've come to writing something that could have been an episode. It's a proper adventure that has a bad guy doing bad things.
Fewest words
"Polydactyly" (45 words, Doctor Who, David Tennant, Tenth Doctor)
This is a three-sentence fic written in response to the news that David Tennant has a sixth toe on his right foot. Well, no, I should say, it's a fic written in response, yada yada, that happened to be three sentences. I didn't try to write a three-sentence fic.
Bonus: Middle fic, alphabetically
"A Meeting of Immortals" (Fic 76/153, Doctor Who/Forever Knight/NieR Replicant crossover, Tenth Doctor, Lucien LaCroix, Devola, Popola, 2717 words)
Yeah, I made this one up, because the original questions in the meme brought up all of the fics that I always talk about and I wanted to talk about something else, any of the other 98% of my work. I saw that the AO3 sort allows sorting on title, so I thought, why not the middle one? I rounded down, because rounding up brought up one of my David AU fics and I thought, enough talking about David Tennant already (well, for once in my life, I can shut up about him).
This was written for GISH 2022 (my first GISH, and sadly, my last as well - they closed down), in which one of the activities was to write a fanfic about a character from a 1990s IP and a character from a 2000s IP meeting in a world from a 2010s IP. I'd been kind of waffling on the other activities, since they were mostly crafting or going somewhere with a bunch of friends to be silly in public, neither of which I do, but I saw this, told my team, "THIS IS WHAT I DO!" and jumped into it. I do want to rewrite it - I want the scene with Devola and Popola to go a bit differently.
Okay, this was fun. Back to my regularly-scheduled moping.
