Is it really past the holidays already? Back to work for me. We've had two four-day weekends in a row now, so this week is going to feel super-long.

I should really do "this year in my writing" post, but I've been so not motivated to write, I'm sure the results are going to be terrible. Ah well. I shall buck up and do it soon.

So, below is one of my favorite images of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, on the side of a box. I don't know why I like it - the expression on his face is subtly mischievous, maybe. Oh, and the sexy glasses. The Doctor in nerdy specs gets me every time.

I think I've seen the image before on the web, and I would like a nice digital copy of it, and not one taken by my iPad. Anyone have it? Or know what season/promo/merchandise it came from? Thanks!

Title: "Theories and Observations", part 1
Fandom(s): Doctor Who

Summary: One cannot draw accurate conclusions when one does not have all the facts. (AU #2 for "The Actor", story #4)

Author's Notes: This is the fourth story in AU #2 for my story The Actor. This is set after "A Scene from a Texas Diner", probably about month or so later. If it seems familiar, it's because it borrows a few concepts and scenes from "Discovery" (which I retconned from this AU).

These stories are being written out of order, so I apologize for any disconnect between them. Eventually, when they're all written, hopefully they'll feel cohesive and the character development is less jerky.

Spoiler Warning: Requires The Actor and A Choice of a Lifetime; won't make much sense without them.

Okay. As I wrote earlier, with retconning "Discovery", a couple of the later stories have to be rewritten, and I've finished with Repercussions. Well, there's a bit of minor editing that I need to do for chapters 2 and 3, which I'll post later today or tomorrow, but for now, here's chapter 1. It's the chapter that needed the most modification, as the "adventure" part of the story had to be completely rewritten. However, I think it's actually a lot better then the original version: dealing with the cube attack in this way was a lot more realistic and fun, though that opinion might also be influenced by my apparent love of physically torturing David. Anyway, here it is.

Considering that What We Did on Our Holiday debuted in American theaters this weekend, I decided it was high time I finally watch the British blu-ray that I bought months ago. It's part of the huge pile of DT works that I have yet to watch. Huge pile. Including the entire series of Blackpool. I am such a poor fangirl.

The movie was surprisingly good.

So, short answer: I recommend this movie. It's fun and entertaining, and heartrending in the right places. Go catch it while it's in the theaters. If only to find out why this is the poster for the German version.

Okay, last one, at least for now. This one is set before Neighbours, but after David leaves the Doctor's TARDIS. It's very experimental: it features a scene I've pictured in my head for a long time, but I don't normally write pieces like this, and it shows. It's a bit rough, and I'm not sure it has a point.

I'm hoping now that David quiets down in my head and I can move on to working on other stories that I've thought of and works that I've abandoned for a while. I read through what I've written of what will probably be my next multi-chapter, and I'm starting to get very excited about returning to it. Wish me luck!

And... the day after the parade, pain! Cymbals are heavy. But I find I'm only hurting after the first parade. After that, I've built up some strength and it's fine.

Summer's here, which means marching band and parades. Tomorrow's the first parade and, guessing that I'll be too exhausted when I get back home, I'm posting the next chapter now. I think it's the longest one in the story.

A pic

So, with [livejournal.com profile] bas_math_girl and [livejournal.com profile] serenityslady displaying their DT pics and userpics, I decided it was high time for me to add one of my favorite DT character. After all, I did pay for this account and should have more than two userpics active! So, while looking through images of DI Hardy on the web, I found the animated gif I wanted to take the image from, and while paging through the frames, I found the following, and I just had to share.

Ah, I overthink things too much! I spent last night rewriting one of these chapters (a later one), even though I probably should have left well enough alone. Ah well.

This probably should have just been the second part of the previous chapter, but ah well, what's done is done. Things pick up a bit more next chapter.

I'm a little dissatisfied with the ending of this one. Maybe someday I'll expand it so that instead of describing the relationship between the three, it'll actually be a scene between them.

I don't know why I find this so strange, but I just realized, while looking at [livejournal.com profile] scripsi's Calufrax recs, that after all this writing, over 150k words of it, I still wouldn't be able to post any of these stories on Teaspoon (if I wanted to, which I don't). Even though to my mind, David is my own character and has completely transformed from whatever he might have been, these stories would still qualify as RPFs, which Teaspoon doesn't allow. That's just so weird, since I consider all of these stories firmly entrenched in the Doctor Who universe, with little reference to any real people (especially since I didn't really pattern either David or Catherine [the only other "real" person depicted in any of the stories] on the real people, since I don't know them at all).

I just realized that I never did write a summary of A Choice of a Lifetime. I need to get on that.
