This worked so well the last time, here's another "please identify the image". Does anyone know where this image comes from and/or if there's a non-filtered and non-cut-off version of it somewhere? Thanks!

I know this one! It's a pic of David with Kylie Minogue from the "Voyage of the Damned" read-through.

Here's an uncut version:

There are a few other pics, too, but with them in different poses.

Thank you thank you thank you! Now I see why it's cropped so oddly. But this is perfect, thanks!

I know katherine_b used it. It's a modified image from The Forest of the Dead, used for her series where the Meta-Crisis returned to save Donna and she ultimately had a family with the Doctor.

One of my mental tropes was covered once, that Donna saw the Doctor as her husband within the computer. I did it myself in my first DW fic, and ended up doing a variation in the second: the Doctor was trapped with her.

Hmmm... plot bunny. :D

Thanks! I'm also sort of using it is inspiration - a friend asked me how I pictured my OC David, and this is one of the images I selected, as what he looks like in one of the rare instances in which he smiles (though he shouldn't have the sideburns).

That's a very interesting concept! Just wondering - how did they get out of the computer? I hate to think that River figured out how to do it. :P

I was wondering where his head came from in the shot. Now I know. :D Well, good for you having inspiration! :DDDDDD

Jenny was also with them. She had to act in his place, and River had to insist on being the one to die to save the others. Jenny had been trying to be a matchmaker for her parents (Donna having become "Mum" to her, and her inexperience meant she was not prepared to deal with River - who she saw as a threat to her parents and the cause of their deaths (until she had proof that they were alive) - like an adult. That story was supposed to have a sequel, but I only got one chapter written for it and posted. One day... I'll figure out a way to finish it.

My new concept? Not saying. Yet. O:D

Oh, now that's interesting - I hadn't thought about the fact that to anyone on the outside, someone going into the computer would look like death. If I remember correctly in the episode, the Doctor didn't react negatively to Donna disappearing. That's a poor characterization, actually. He should have either thought she was dead and gotten angry/inconsolable or had figured out immediately from "Donna Noble has left the library; Donna Noble has been saved" what that all really meant. Eh, I chalk that up to Moffat's poor characterizations and the fact that he was obviously trying to drum up the audience's interest in River, as opposed to develop the characters we already had.

You should never say what your concepts are! The suspense is more fun for us! :D

The numb reaction we got at first felt in-character to me and spoke volumes about how deeply the Doctor cared for Donna. He was stuck in the "I sent her away, and she's dead because of me" mode. And I think he might've sunk into a fatal depression (namely, being eaten) had River not dragged him. However, later I thought he should've snapped harder at River for her reaction. In fact, Moffat's poor choices in that episode led to me disliking River from the start. And he hasn't done much to change that. The only thing that for me makes River interesting is that Alex Kingston is a good actor and had done a great job with crappy scripts.

Oh, I need to figure this one out. It should be good. :DDDDD

I liked River in the Library. At the time, she was the efficient archaeologist with a mysterious past/future with the Doctor, and with the implication that she would one day marry the Doctor, she made me wonder what it was about her - about a human - that captivated the Doctor so much that he would marry her. I was especially hopeful of an interesting characterization of a female scientist.

And then when River reappeared, she was the typical Moffat "strong" woman, namely, older hip-swinging femme fatale, superior at everything, always one step ahead of the Doctor, and obsessed with him. (The other typical Moffat "strong" woman is the young pretty-but-tomboyish girl that yells at the Doctor a lot.) How that person became Library!River, I have no idea. I mean, really, River only became a scientist so that she could find out more about the Doctor.

She was not an interesting character. Her entire narrative purpose seemed to be to make the Doctor look like a fool. I never felt that she and the Doctor had any chemistry at all; it seemed to me that she bullied the Doctor into the relationship. And then the last Christmas special destroyed any respect I might have had for her.

And now we have Moffat doing the same thing with Missy: apparently, he feels that if a character is made female, she must only care about her relationship with the Doctor. Honestly, it's the problem I have with all of Moffat's major females - they are all defined by their relationships with the Doctor. Amy's childhood and development was defined by the Doctor, Clara was born to save the Doctor, River was conditioned to kill and then love the Doctor, Missy wants to be the Doctor's friend. Can we please have a female character who is an individual in her own right?

This is probably the entire reason why the only major character from Moffat's era that I really liked is Rory. He's male, so his history and personality is not dominated by the Doctor.

Sorry for the rant. :D
